Buffalo Bills (-2.5) at Los Angeles Rams — Thursday, Sept. 8, 7:20 p.m. CT
Not only is this the first NFL game of the season, but it’s also the official launch of legal sports betting in Kansas, so why not get in on the action?
The Bills are going to be on a mission this season and will be out to avenge a heartbreaking playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that still feels fresh.
Yes, the Rams are the reigning Super Bowl champions and are playing at home, but as is the case with many long playoff runs, it could take them a while to get going after a Super Bowl hangover.
LB Von Miller has swapped teams and will now be hunting Matthew Stafford, and star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still recovering from injury as a free agent.
The Bills are loaded on both sides of the ball, and you can expect an MVP-type season from QB Josh Allen, who is on a mission to take his team all the way this year. Look for the Bills to cover in an early season upset— if you can call it that.
New York Giants at Tennessee Titans (-5.5) — Sunday, Sept. 11, 3:25 p.m. CT
The Titans are still dealing with the loss of WR A.J. Brown, but it’s not all doom and gloom in the Music City. Quarterback Malik Willis has shown flashes of brilliance in the preseason and looks like an exciting heir apparent to Ryan Tannehill. If anything, this should push Tannehill to stay sharp this season, knowing that Willis is waiting in the wings.
Tennessee also added wide receiver Treylon Burks in the first round of the NFL Draft. He should immediately swallow up most of the targets left in Brown’s wake. The Giants have a glimmer of hope with new head coach Brian Daboll at the helm, but this team isn’t going anywhere fast as long as Daniel Jones is the QB.
With a healthy Saquon Barkley and a few nice draft picks, the Giants will be improved this year, but it’s going to take some time for them to gel.
They’ll get their first dose of reality in Tennessee when Derrick Henry hits the field and reminds them who’s King. The Titans should win by at least a touchdown in this one.
