The Las Angeles Clippers selected Johnson with the 21st pick in the 2021 NBA Draft before trading him to Portland midway through his rookie season.
The trade proved beneficial for the Shelbyville, Tennessee native. After bouncing back-and-forth from the NBA to G-League in Los Angeles, Johnson earned a consistent role for a struggling Portland team.
Johnson averaged 9.7 points and 2.9 assists in 25 minutes per game for the Trail Blazers.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard was a starter and one of the best players on Portland’s NBA Summer League team.
Johnson averaged 14.2 points in five summer league games including leading the Trail Blazers in scoring twice.
