The Memphis Grizzlies selected Tennessee point guard Kennedy Chandler with the 38th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft Thursday night.
Chandler returns to his hometown to play — and likely back up — one of the league’s budding young stars in Ja Morant.
Morant and Chandler have a relationship dating back to when Morant first arrived in Memphis after a prolific career at Murray State.

Morant and Chandler have been complimentary and supportive of each other over the years since with Morant showing Chandler love after the Memphis native earned SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

Chandler joining forces with one of his mentors is extremely exciting for the rookie but is just as exciting for Morant.
