Arch Manning Announces Commitment, Set to Play SEC Football

The number one football prospect in the class of 2023, quarterback Arch Manning, has officially committed to the University of Texas on Thursday. Manning’s announcement came in the form of a post on social media. In fact, it was his very first social media post ever.

“Committed to the University of Texas,” Manning wrote, with a picture of himself in a Texas workout shirt. “#HookEm”

With the nephew of VFL Peyton Manning now slated to officially be a Texas Longhorn, the five-star and perfectly rated quarterback is now bound for the Southeastern Conference… Eventually.

According to ESPN Chairman James Pitaro on Tuesday, the SEC expansion to bring Texas and Oklahoma into the conference will not happen until 2025. Therefore, there’s a little bit of a timeline to work out.

Manning, as a prospect in the class of 2023, will have his first Big12 football season at Texas in the fall of 2023. His second season at Texas, fall 2024, will also be in the Big12. However, if the latest plan comes to fruition, it looks as though Manning’s third season at Texas will officially be in the SEC.

However, depending on a number of different variables including an all-out Big12 contract buyout from the respective universities, the move to have Texas and Oklahoma enter the SEC could happen sooner.

One way or another, excluding a decommitment, transfer, or untimely injury, Arch Manning is set to play SEC football at some point in his collegiate career.

Manning will become NFL Draft eligible after his third year of college football.

Arch Manning is the son of Cooper Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, and the grandson of Archie Manning. Standing at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, Manning currently plays his high school ball at Isidore Newman High School. According to 247 Sports, Manning is the top-ranked player in the class of 2023 with a perfect score of 1.000 in his rating.

Despite Peyton Manning’s connection to Tennessee, the Volunteers never really had a foothold in Arch Manning’s recruitment.
