Tennessee Basketball has been firing on all cylinders in the recruiting department in the last month.
Heading into the spring, Tennessee only had one addition to the roster in four-star point guard BJ Edwards from Knoxville. However, in late April, the Vols were able to add a commitment from Indiana State transfer Tyreke Key. Then, in May, Tennessee came down with two massive commitments.
The first player that committed to and signed with Tennessee was five-star Julian Phillips, who is ranked as a Top 15 overall player in the class. Then, on Friday, Tennessee received news that four-star small forward DJ Jefferson was also going to sign with Tennessee.
According to On3 Sports’ team rankings, Tennessee currently has the No. 11 class in the nation and the No. 4 class in the SEC. On3 Sports’ Top 11 is as follows:
- Duke (3 five-stars, 4 two-stars, 1 three-star)
- Arkansas (3, 1, 2)
- Texas (1, 2, 1)
- Oregon (1, 1, 0)
- Kentucky (2, 0, 1)
- Baylor (1, 0, 1)
- UCLA (2, 1, 0)
- Alabama (1, 3, 0)
- Houston (1, 1, 0)
- Kansas (1, 3, 0)
- Tennessee (1, 2, 0)
In addition, 247 Sports and Rivals’ rankings have Tennessee a good bit behind On3’s rankings, and much closer to each other.
In 247 Sports’ rankings, Tennessee is listed as the No. 22 team in the nation and the No. 6 team in the SEC. Rivals’ rankings, meanwhile, have Tennessee at No. 21 in the nation and No. 6 in the SEC.
