According to a report from On3 Sports on Wednesday, Tennessee tight end Julian Nixon has officially entered the transfer portal.
Nixon also now becomes the third Tennessee player to enter the portal this week following offensive lineman James Robinson and linebacker Eunique Valentine. The deadline to enter the transfer portal and still receive immediate eligibility next season is coming up this Sunday, which is the reason for the uptick in activity.
Originally a four-star recruit, Nixon played his high school ball at Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia before committing to Tennessee. Nixon was originally a commitment to former head coach Jeremy Pruitt and his staff.

Julian Nixon enrolled at Tennessee in June of 2021 but did not see any action in his first season, thus giving him a red-shirt year.
With both Jacob Warren and Princeton Fant returning to Tennessee next season, Nixon’s departure doesn’t necessarily play an enormous factor in what Tennessee will be doing on the field. No team wants to lose depth at a position, but Tennessee did also bring in tight end Charlie Browder through the transfer portal this fall. In addition, Tennessee has a commitment from four-star tight end Ethan Davis from the class of 2023.
