Since the 2021 season came to a close, former Tennessee wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. has been hard at work gearing up for the NFL Draft. Jones Jr was a participant in the Reece’s Senior Bowl in February and did go through workouts during the 2022 NFL Combine in March. Additionally, Jones Jr did participate in Tennessee’s Pro Day in Knoxville just about two weeks ago.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday morning, Jones Jr has a visit set up with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday and a visit with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday.
“#Tennessee WR and return specialist Velus Jones Jr is visiting the #Panthers today and the #Colts tomorrow, source said,” Rapoport said in the tweet on Tuesday.
During the NFL combine last month, Jones Jr ended up with the fourth-fastest 40-yard-dash time among all players at 4.31 seconds. With his dynamic ability in the return game on special teams, Jones Jr’s speed is one of his most valuable traits when looking at the evaluations.

During his journey through the NFL combine, Velus Jones Jr was finding interest from another team representing the AFC South – the Tennessee Titans.
“I talked to the Titans,” Jones said during the combine via the Titans. “I think we have a great feel for each other. They liked me a lot. That would be amazing. I went to Nashville twice and I enjoyed the area. Tennessee, I like the area, the vibes. That would be a great spot to fall … I know they have A.J. (Brown) and Julio (Jones) there, but they’d look at me as a slot. But I’m physical and strong enough to also play outside and make a lot of plays.”
