Tate is one of Tennessee’s top targets in the 2023 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 18 prospect and No. 3 receiver according to the On3 consensus rankings.
The 6-foot-2 receiver attends Florida’s IMG Academy but is a Chicago native originally. Tennessee is competing with top midwest programs Ohio State and Notre Dame as well as SEC powers Georgia and Alabama for Tate’s services.
Tate has yet to visit Alabama but visited Georgia last month and has been frequent visitors of Ohio State and Notre Dame. The highly touted receiver visited Notre Dame three times and Ohio State two times last summer before visiting Columbus for three games last season and South Bend for another.
The Chicago native visited Tennessee for the Vanderbilt game in November and with his official visit this weekend, the Vols are the only school Tate has seen twice in 2022.
Tate visited Notre Dame last month and hasn’t been back to Columbus since the season.
The receiver is part of a massive recruiting weekend for Tennessee football. The Vols are hosting their most impressive group of recruits since Josh Heupel became head coach in January of 2021.
Five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava is back on campus for the first time since committing and he’ll be accompanied by an abundance of offensive talent. Four-star receivers Kyler Kasper and Devin Hyatt will be in town as will four-star running back Treyaun Webb.
The blue-chip recruits will get to take in Tennessee’s spring scrimmage on Saturday. The media will as well and we’ll have full notes and coverage here at RockyTopInsider.com.
