WATCH: Spring Camp in Knoxville – Tennessee Football Highlights

NBA: Phoenix Suns vs Memphis Grizzlies

The Vols hit the field on Friday morning for their sixth practice of spring camp. Just one day before their first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday, Tennessee Football hit the ground running on a windy morning in Knoxville.

By this point in camp, just about two weeks in, the team looks comfortable and in routine going through their drills. This was also the first practice that Tennessee did completely outdoors. In the first five practices, Tennessee would spend the first 15 minutes or so going through light conditioning and stretching inside before moving outside. However, on Friday, everything was outdoors.

The quarterbacks, receivers, and tight ends met near the endzone towards the beginning of practice to once again work on red-zone routes. The receivers can a series of slants, out-routes, and corner-routes as the quarterbacks rotated to feed them the ball. New receivers like Chas Nimrod and Squirrel White continue to look smooth in their route running and catching ability.

It’s noticeable to see how comfortable the team looks. There’s a sense of familiarity in year two, from the way the players go through the drills to the way coaches are coaching individual players.

On the defensive side of the ball, second-ranked JUCO cornerback Desmond Williams is one of the players that is getting plenty of reps with the secondary. Some spots on the defense still look low in-depth, but it’s only spring ball right now.

Lastly, newcomer Addison Nichols continues to get more and more work at the center position. Nichols was working with Jerome Carvin today going through drills on the line, which can be seen in the video.
