Nico Iamaleava Is Already Recruiting For Tennessee

Deion Sanders Calls Out NFL Teams that Didn’t Attend JSU’s Pro Day

It didn’t take long for Tennessee’s latest commit Nico Iamaleava to start recruiting the class of 2023.

After dropping his announcement that he would be committing to Tennessee, Iamaleava set himself up as the foundational piece to Tennessee’s 2023 class. As a five-star quarterback and the fifth-ranked prospect in the class, Iamaleava is the type of player that other recruits take note of and want to play with. In fact, it’s already happening over the phone.

In an interview clip from the Outkick 360 show on Wednesday, Iamaleava spoke about his drive to bring other talented players with him to Knoxville.

“It’s been fun,” Iamaleava said during the interview about the week after his commitment. “I get to build new relationships with a lot of the top players in the class. A lot of players hit me after I dropped my commitment. I think it’s fun, man, just recruiting some guys and seeing how different personalities work from different parts of the country. This whole process has been fun.”

The goal for Tennessee is to get Iamaleava to sign his letter of intent come December. However, it does sound like from now until then, Iamaleava will be hard at work trying to match up with some top-tier talent.

One of the players that Iamaleava is linked to is five-star wide receiver Carnell Tate. Just last week, Tate included Tennessee in a Top 5, although many expect him to land at Ohio State. In a recent interview with VolQuest’s Austin Price, though, Iamaleava said that he had already been in touch with the Florida wideout.

“Carnell Tate, that’s one guy,” Iamaleava said when asked about who he has been looking at since his commitment. “And Kyler Kasper. He’s from Arizona. I’ve built a core relationship with those two. We talked about top schools and what we were looking at, and yeah, Tennessee is in their top schools. So we’ll see what kind of pull I have. But those are some guys to get right there.”

The other player that Iamaleava mentioned was four-star receiver Kyler Kasper from Gilbert, Arizona.

“Looking the part at 6-foot-5 and 197-pounds you have a prototype outside wide receiver,” 247 Sports recruiting expert Chris Singletary said in his evaluation. “With wide shoulders and great overall defined frame he has more than ample room to fill out and add mass. His length is a major asset. He is an above average athlete who has excellent explosiveness. You see examples of this on the field and with his dunking ability on the basketball court.”

As Iamaleava mentioned, Tennessee and Kasper have been talking. Josh Heupel and his staff extended Kasper a scholarship offer to Tennessee on Aug. 21, 2022.

While there are still many months to pass and much work to be done, Tennessee can be sure to know that their newest commit, Nico Iamaleava, is working hard to bring the best talent to Knoxville with him.
