Nico Iamaleava Transfers High Schools
Five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava is reportedly about to make his second transfer on his high school career.
Iamaleava played his freshman season at Long Beach Polytechnic High School before transferring to Warren High School for his sophomore and junior seasons. Now, with the five-star quarterback on the verge of announcing his collegiate commitment, Iamaleava is heading back to familiar grounds.
According to a report from 562 Sports on Monday, Nico Iamaleava will be transferring back to Long Beach Poly for his senior season.
“I’m excited for sure,” Iamaleava said via 562 Sports. “Finishing my career off in Long Beach, that was the ultimate goal for me. Just coming home for my senior year.”
Tennessee Football: Why Nico Iamaleava is Tennessee’s Biggest Recruit in a Decade
In the south Los Angeles region of California, only 13 miles of highway separate Long Beach Poly and Warren, so Iamaleava won’t be going too far. According to On3’s consensus rankings, Iamaleava is the fifth-ranked player in the class, the third-ranked quarterback in the class, and the second-ranked player from the state of California.
As of now, it does look like the Tennessee Volunteers could be in a good position to land the coveted recruit. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Tennessee as the leader in the clubhouse with an 83.4 percent chance to land Iamaleava. In addition, 247 Sports Director of National Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, has also locked in a prediction for Iamaleava to Tennessee.
Iamaleava is expected to announce his commitment sometime in the spring, although, the exact date is still unknown.
Iamaleava’s young brother, Madden Iamaleava, is a class of 2025 quarterback at Warren High School. With older brother Nico now leaving to take over Long Beach Poly’s offense, it could allow younger brother Madden to step up and onto the same path as Warren’s starting quarterback. Although he does not have a star ranking yet, Madden Iamaleava does have a scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee.
