Look To Auburn (+135) To Be A #1 Seed In March Madness
After a quick flight over to Tampa earlier this week, the Tennessee basketball team looks to be in good spirits before their game on Friday.
As the Vols were going through practice on Thursday, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes was able to meet with the media for a few minutes to talk about the Vols’ week ahead. During the interview, Barnes spoke about the team’s preparation, staying locked in and focused, and much more.
However, towards the end of the interview, freshman guard Zakai Zeigler and injured veteran Olivier Nkamhoua decided to have some fun with Barnes. What they might not have been ready for, though, is Barnes poking right back.
“Look at this guy,” Barnes said while slinging his arm around Zeigler. “How’s the weather down there?”
“No no no we are not doing this!” Zeigler replied back while hardly able to hold in his laughter. “He is two inches taller than me!”
“Two? Are you kidding me?” Barnes fired back.
“I’m six foot!” Zeigler said to close while running back on the court.
Tennessee Basketball: Advanced Model Projects Tennessee to Win SEC Tournament
With a light shootaround on Thursday, Tennessee will gear up to play either South Carolina or Mississippi State coming up on Friday. If the Vols win that Friday game, they will move into the SEC Tournament semi-finals on Saturday to take on, likely, Kentucky.
“The conference tournaments are obviously important,” Barnes said on Friday. “I think the players love this time of the year obviously. And then on [Selection] Sunday, those teams that have made it or will qualify to get to the NCAA Tournament. It’s what we all strive to do. It’s a special time, really because it’s basketball season and it’s coming to the end of it where the whole country has a chance to be represented in the NCAA Tournament. We know they all have had their conference tournaments or are going to have their conference tournaments, but it’s just a special time for basketball.”
