Knoxville Receiver Ayden Greene Announces Top Ten

Russell Wilson to the Broncos – The Football Priests Gut Reaction

After a great visit with five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava over the weekend, Josh Heupel and the Tennessee football program are a step closer to getting another offensive weapon in the same class.

Class of 2023 wide receiver Ayden Greene has been playing his high school ball just about 20 minutes away from the University of Tennessee at Powell High School. On Wednesday night, the former Tennessee State Champion announced his Top 10 including Arkansas, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Memphis, Arkansas State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Tennessee.

Currently, Greene ranks as a three-star receiver according to 247 Sports and Rivals‘ recruiting services.

With how close he is to Tennessee’s campus, Heupel and his staff made a play on Ayden Greene early into their tenure in Knoxville. Heupel gave Greene a scholarship on Mar. 18, 2021, just about a month and a half after taking the Tennessee job.

Although he did not make it to Neyland Stadium for a game visit this last season, Greene did attend a Tennessee camp last June via 247.

Throughout his recruitment, the 6-foot-1, 166-pound receiver has collected 13 scholarship offers. After posting his Top 10, the three schools that did give an offer but were left off were Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, and Tulane. In addition, those were the first three schools to offer Greene a scholarship, coming in the first two months of 2021.

Last December, Greene helped lead the Powell Panthers to the 5A Tennessee State Championship in a 42-34 victory over Page. In the game, Greene caught a 33-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to extend the Panthers’ critical lead.

According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, Greene ranks as the No. 54 wide receiver in the 2023 class and the No. 8 player from the state of Tennessee.

Powell High School, though, has been a familiar place for the Vols’ coaching staff since they arrived in Knoxville. Tennessee was in a tough recruiting battle for the No. 2 player in the class of 2022, Walter Nolen, who eventually signed with Texas A&M last December. While the Vols did miss out on a star Powell defensive player from the State Championship team, the Vols could wind up getting a talented offensive player in 2023 three-star receiver Ayden Greene instead.
