NCAAM 2/13 Recap: Purdue Survives Upset Scare Against Maryland 62-61
Tennessee’s men’s basketball team jumped from No. 19 to No. 16 in this week’s AP poll while the Lady Vols rose from No. 13 to No. 12 in this week’s women’s poll.
The Vols turned in their second straight undefeated week, winning at Mississippi State before returning home and completing the season sweep of Vanderbilt.
Zakai Zeigler was fantastic on the week, totaling 27 points, seven assists and seven steals in the pair of wins.
Tennessee is the third highest ranked SEC team in this week’s poll, coming in behind No. 2 Auburn and No. 4 Kentucky and ahead of No. 22 Arkansas.
The Vols now face their most challenging week of the season. Tennessee hosts Kentucky to Thompson-Boling Arena Tuesday before traveling to Fayetteville Saturday.
After suffering their first two loss week of the season, the Lady Vols bounced back earning a pair of home wins to get back on track. Tennessee started the week off with a 14-point win over Missouri and ended it with a 14-point victory over Vanderbilt.
Junior guard Jordan Houston continued her elite play, recording 37 points, 26 rebounds and 12 assists in the two wins.
The Lady Vols are the third highest ranked SEC team in this week’s poll. No. 1 South Carolina, No. 11 LSU, No. 17 Florida and No. 21 Georgia also frequent the poll.
Tennessee is reaching the home stretch of the season with just five games left in the regular season. The Lady Vols head back on the road this week with matchups at Alabama and at No. 1 South Carolina.
