Following the loss to Texas a little over a week ago, the Tennessee Volunteers basketball team has gotten back on track. With back-to-back wins against Texas A&M on Tuesday and South Carolina on Saturday, the Vols are rising in the latest AP Poll.
After carrying the No. 22 ranking last week, the Tennessee basketball team has risen up to the No. 19 ranking in the latest Feb. 7 AP Poll.
The Vols come in as the third-highest SEC team in the rankings behind No. 1 Auburn and No. 5 Kentucky. Tennessee is also the only other team in the rankings besides Auburn and Kentucky with LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas all being out. Additionally, Tennessee is one spot ahead of the team they most recently lost to, No. 23 Texas.
Tennessee has two upcoming games slated for this week with two days coming in between them. First, on Wednesday night, the Vols will travel south to take on Mississippi State (14-8, 5-4 SEC) at 9:00 p.m. ET. Then, on Saturday night, Tennessee will host in-state rival Vanderbilt in the two teams’ second meeting of the year. The Vols previously beat Vanderbilt by a score of 68-60 on Jan. 18 in Nashville.
