As a three-star recruit in the class of 2019, Akporoghene began his high-school career playing for The King’s Academy in Seymour, TN. However, after a few years there, Akporoghene would then transfer to play his senior season with IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.

During his first year with Tennessee in 2019, Akporoghene took a redshirt year but did see action in two games against UAB and No. 3 Georgia. Then, in his redshirt-freshman year in 2020, Akporoghene had appearances in four games throughout the year and had a season-high nine snaps against Alabama.
Akporoghene originally moved to the United States from Warri, Nigeria, in 2016.
Tennessee has now seen a substantial amount of players enter the transfer portal from the 2021 roster. Fortunately for Tennessee moving forward, though, many of the transfers players only had a reserve role with the Vols. In addition to Akporoghene, 12 other Tennessee players have decided to transfer, including WR Andison Coby, RB Dee Beckwith, and OL K’Rojhn Calbert.
