Former Tennessee Assistant Coach Lands Job at Auburn

Betting Insights for the Bengals vs. Titans Game

A former Tennessee assistant coach is on his way to the SEC West, according to a report from Jason Caldwell of Inside the Auburn Tigers on Friday. Former Tennessee defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is joining Bryan Harsin’s Auburn staff in the same position.

As a former college football player himself, Brumbaugh will be returning to a familiar place. The former Tennessee assistant was an Auburn Tiger lineman in the late 1990s, leading to a very brief NFL stint in 2000.

Brumbaugh’s tenure in Knoxville was a short one, and in reality, only lasted a total of four games. Former Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt brought Brumbaugh onto the staff in February of 2020 on a two-year contract. However, after the first four games of the 2020 season, Brumbaugh was then let go by Pruitt in October.

Brumbaugh spent the 2021 season as an analyst with Oregon.

Before Brumbaugh was hired by Pruitt, he had collected an extensive coaching resume on the defensive side of the ball. Prior to his tenure in Knoxville, Brumbaugh had held assistant positions with Colorado and Maryland since 2017. The coaching career of Jimmy Brumbaugh began in 2004 and will continue in 2022 with the Auburn Tigers.
