Tennessee Linebacker Set to Return for 2022 Super Senior Season

A Tennessee linebacker has officially made his announcement regarding the future on Friday morning. Vols’ linebacker Solon Page III has announced that he will be returning to Tennessee in 2022 for his super senior season.

Page appeared in all 12 games for Tennessee this past season. The senior Tennessee linebacker collected 38 tackles in total this season with 13 solo tackles and 25 assisted tackles. Page also found the endzone in 2021 when he took back a 31-yard interception for a touchdown against Tennessee Tech.

“I’m definitely coming back next season,” Page said with a big smile on Friday morning. “I’m excited to come back and make sure to get back to work!”

Page, a redshirt senior, has been with the Tennessee program since 2017. The linebacker from Atlanta took a redshirt in 2017 before officially beginning his Tennessee career in 2018. In 2019 and 2020, Page only saw action in four total games, a third of what he played under defensive coordinator Tim Banks in 2021.

Page has been just one of the few Tennessee players that has had to make a decision regarding their future at Tennessee.

On Sunday night, quarterback Hendon Hooker also announced he would be returning for his super senior season in 2022, which was a monumental victory for Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and his staff. Additionally, Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman said on Tuesday that while he has made a decision, he isn’t quite ready to make the announcement just yet.

Then, on Wednesday evening, Tennessee offensive lineman and second-team All-SEC selection Cade Mays said that, at the time, he was “50/50” in deciding if he was going to declare for the NFL Draft or return to Tennessee.

At the beginning of December, senior defensive back Alontae Taylor made the decision to forego the Tennessee bowl game and prepare for the senior bowl and NFL Draft this upcoming April.
