As a part of their Early Signing Day coverage, the Tennessee coaches have been breaking down film for their early signees on social media.
Four-star quarterback Tayven Jackson, the third-highest ranked recruit in Tennessee’s class, has been one of the most anticipated Vol recruits in some time. Jackson has won back-to-back Indiana state championships with Center Grove High School and hasn’t lost a game since a third state championship appearance in his sophomore season. As Tennessee quarterback’s coach Joey Halzle put it, Jackson will bring a winning nature to the team.
“The first thing Tayven is going to bring is a winning attitude,” Halzle said in the video. “He’s won two straight state championships and hasn’t lost a football game in two years. Smooth athlete. Raw in his development. A guy that’s a three-sport guy. State champion also in basketball. A guy that ran track on a whim in the spring and ended up winning all-state for the 400. So, just a natural athlete in every aspect of the game.”

Halzle went on to talk about why Jackson’s athleticism in multiple sports will translate and help him on the gridiron.
“Tayven is extremely smooth in the way he operates,” Halzle said. “He can make throws off-schedule. He can make them off-base from awkward body positions. Really just does everything athletically at an extremely high level.”
After Halzle’s introduction to Jackson, he went on to break down some of the highlight tapes from Jackson’s high school season. In the film breakdown, he showed exactly what he meant when he spoke about Jackson’s smooth motions and ability to manage breakdowns in the pocket.
Below is the film breakdown from Tennessee QB’s coach Joey Halzle about Tennessee four-star quarterback signee Tayven Jackson. The film portion of the video begins at the 48-second mark.
