The Tennessee Volunteers and head coach Josh Heupel have added another recruit into the 2022 class on Monday. And to add a little bit of flair to the commitment, the Vols secured their target over Florida and Nebraska.

On Monday night, three-star defensive back Christian Harrison announced his commitment to Tennessee in a post on social media.

After the commitment, Tennessee’s defensive back’s coach Willie Martinez sent out a tweet that read, “#GBO”.

Martinez wasn’t the only one excited about Harrison’s commitment, though, as defensive back Alontae Taylor also had a response on social media.

“That’s Lil Bro!” Taylor replied to Harrison’s tweet, followed by an orange heart. “Welcome to DRock!”

Harrison stands at six feet tall and weighs in at 183 pounds according to 247Sports. As a member of Woodward Academy’s track team, Harrison’s speed translates to the football field and helps give him an advantage at his position. 247 ranks Harrison is the 91st overall player in the state of Georgia and the 92nd best cornerback in the class.

Christian Harrison is the son of Rodney Harrison, a 15-year NFL veteran and four-time Super Bowl participant with two championship rings. Harrison’s career was spent with the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots, where the defensive back racked up two First-Team All-Pro selections and two Pro Bowl appearances. Now, Harrison is an analyst for NBC’s “Football Night in America” broadcast.

After Harrison made his announcement on Twitter, both of his parents made a social media post congratulating their son.

So proud of my son and all the work he has put in,” Rodney Harrison said on Twitter. “Keep God first and he will bless and guide you for his glory. #GoVols”

Harrison’s mother, Erika Harrison, also sent a reply.

This is a great decision!!!! It just felt right! It felt like home… So proud of you Son!!”

On Nov. 17, Harrison had taken down his final list of schools to three, with Tennessee, Florida, and Nebraska making the cut.

In what has been a little bit of a rollercoaster recruit, Harrison was actually a Liberty commit back in July. With offers on the table from teams like Furman, Marshall, and Mercer, Harrison chose to commit his talents to the Flames. Although, soon after his commitment, Harrison started to garner more attention across the country.

Even though he was committed to Liberty, Harrison was given scholarship offers from Tennessee, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Nebraska over the next few months. Then, in mid-October, Harrison announced his de-commitment from Liberty and the reopening of his recruitment this fall.

With the commitment from Harrison, the 2022 Tennessee recruiting class now has 15 commits in total, with Harrison being the sixth defensive player in the class. According to 247’s rankings, the Vols’ class ranks 24th nationally and ninth in the SEC.

Harrison is the first cornerback commit of the 2022 class for Tennessee.
