Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week and offensive tackle Cade Mays is the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for their play in the Vols’ win over No. 18 Kentucky.

Hooker — one of the nation’s most efficient passers — completed 15-of-20 passes for 306 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. The transfer quarterback added 41 rushing yards and one fumble.

The senior signal caller turned in one of his best games at either Virginia Tech or Tennessee.

Having started seven of Tennessee’s nine games, Hooker has rejuvenated the Vols’ offense, completing 69% of his passes for 1,894 yards, 21 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Hooker has one more year of eligibility due to COVID-19 eligibility relief, but the quarterback has shot up draft boards with his play this season.

Mays returned from injury this week after missing the Alabama game with a high ankle sprain he suffered in the first half of the Vols’ loss to Ole Miss.

The senior lineman didn’t allow a pressure and ranked out as Tennessee’s second best offensive player, earning a 72.2 grade according to Pro Football Focus.

Mays — who transferred to Tennessee from Georgia — is in his first year exclusively playing offensive tackle. The former five-star recruit was a versatile lineman that played his best at guard entering this season.

The preseason All-SEC selection has been solid for Tennessee all season at right tackle.
