It didn’t take long for Tennessee to gain control in its exhibition win over Georgia College Wednesday night.

The Lady Vols led 15-0 under four minutes into the game and coasted to a 108-44 win.

All 12 Tennessee players that were dressed out played and all of them scored four or more points. Five different Lady Vols scored in double figures led by Rae Burrell’s 18-point performance.

“I do like having balance,” Tennessee head coach Kellie Harper said. “I think we’re capable of having balance. When I look at the stat sheet the one thing that jumps out to me is Tamari Key has to get more touches so our post play— we have to get the ball inside a little more. The fact that we have confidence in everyone taking shots I think is really good.”

Tennessee’s defense was suffocating, holding the Bobcats to 44 points on 27% shooting from the field. The Lady Vols forced 25 turnovers and blocked eight shots.

All four of Tennessee’s freshmen played more than 14 minutes Wednesday night with some good and bad coming from all four.

“It was probably about like I thought it would be,”  Harper said of her newcomers. “I thought they’d be a little anxious. I thought they’d be a little nervous. Some of their shots reflected that, I thought. They’ll be better the next time out because they have this under their belt. The thing that I love about them is they have just a toughness about them. They have a fearlessness about them. They don’t play with a lot of caution.”

Postgame, Harper also discussed coaching against her brother, what she learned about her team and the negatives in the blowout victory.
