The week seven battle is Tennessee’s first home night game since the Thursday night season opener.
The matchup with Ole Miss will be the Vols’ fourth straight SEC game and provides a major opportunity for Josh Heupel’s team.

Ole Miss’ opponents this season of been of vastly different skill levels. The Rebels have dominant wins over a bad Louisville team, Tulane and Austin Peay. In its first major test of the 2021 season, Ole Miss laid an egg at Alabama, falling behind 28-0 at halftime before losing 42-21.
The Rebels face a great measuring stick this week, hosting No. 13 Arkansas to Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
The week seven matchup will mark Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin’s return to Neyland Stadium as a head coach for the first time since leaving Tennessee for USC in January of 2010. Kiffin has coached in Neyland Stadium twice since as an assistant coach, helping Alabama defeat the Vols in 2014 and 2016.
Ole Miss won the last meeting between the two schools in 2014— though the NCAA later vacated the win for the Rebels. Tennessee’s last win over Ole Miss came in 2010 under first year head coach Derek Dooley.
Tennessee is facing a struggling South Carolina team at home before the critical SEC matchup. A win over the Gamecocks would put the Vols in an excellent spot to earn bowl eligibility and give Tennessee confidence and its second straight SEC win heading into the matchup.
