Tennessee head baseball coach Tony Vitello met with the media Thursday as his fifth team began fall practice that afternoon.
The Vols are coming off their best baseball season in two decades, winning its most SEC games since 1995, winning the SEC East for the first time since 1997 and returning to Omaha and the College World Series for the first time since 2005.
Thursday, Vitello made it clear his team didn’t have to look far for motivation. Tennessee lost its final two games of the season, the first two game losing streak in the Vols’ magical campaign.
Vitello also discussed what his new infield could look like, the Vols’ incoming transfer pitchers, Tennessee fans and the Vols position battle at catcher.
Tennessee plays a pair of scrimmages against division one opponents this fall, playing Georgia State in Chattanooga and Louisiana Tech in west Tennessee.
