Tennessee lost its 2021 SEC opener Saturday night, falling in Gainesville 38-14 to rival Florida.
The Vols fell behind early before a pair of long touchdown passes from Hendon Hooker to Tiyon Evans and JaVonta Payton gave Tennessee a second quarter lead.
Florida would reclaim the lead two possessions later. Still, the Vols had a chance to tie the game at halftime when Chase McGrath’s 47-yard field goal sailed wide right.
From there it was all Florida, the Gators dominated the second half, scoring the game’s final 28 points while out gaining the Vols 292-162.
