With the 2021 season under 48 hours away, Tennessee announced its uniform choice for the Thursday night’s opener on Twitter. The Vols will wear their classic home jerseys: orange jerseys on white pants with the classic white helmet.

In Josh Heupel’s first season Tennessee made a small alternate to its uniforms, wearing white cleats instead of the black cleats of the last there seasons. Tennessee’s pants still include double stripes which was reintroduced last season.

Due to COVID-19, Tennessee opened its 2020 season at South Carolina. The Vols wore their all white uniforms in the 31-27 win. The game marked the first season opener Tennessee hadn’t worn its classic home uniforms since 2008 when Phillip Fulmer lost his final season opener at UCLA.

Thursday night’s season opener marks the start of the 100th season of Neyland Stadium. The historic stadium will include a new addition Thursday when Tennessee unveils statues for Lester McCLain, Jackie Walker, Condredge Holloway and Tee Martin outside Gate 21.

Tennessee and Bowling Green will kick off their 2021 seasons on the SEC Network at 8 p.m. ET Thursday.
