Former Tennessee running back John Kelly shined in the Cleveland Browns second preseason game, Sunday afternoon.
Kelly ran for a game high 58 yards on nine carries and scored one of the game’s three touchdowns in the Browns’ 17-13 win over the New York Giants.

The powerful running back recorded 1,573 yards and 15 touchdowns in his three seasons at Tennessee. Kelly was a rare bright spot in Tennessee’s putrid 2017 season, running for 778 yards and nine touchdowns behind a struggling offensive line.
The Los Angeles Rams drafted Kelly in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft but Kelly has failed to make a large impact in his first three professional seasons.
Cleveland signed Kelly to its practice squad last season and while the Michigan native’s path to playing time in a Browns backfield with Nick Chubb is slim, he has put his best food forward towards making the Browns roster.
