Prep forward Jett Howard will officially visit Tennessee on Sept. 11, Hoopgate reported earlier this week.

Howard is the nation’s 39th best player and 10th best small forward in the 2022 class according to 247sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-7 wing is the son of Michigan head coach Juwan Howard and plays his high school basketball at IMG Academy in Florida.

Besides Tennessee, Howard plans on taking visits to Michigan, North Carolina State and Georgetown. Howard is also trying to set up a visit to LSU.

Poaching Howard away from Michigan is a daunting task but Rick Barnes and his staff getting the four-star in for an official visit gives them a fighting chance.

Four-star guard B.J. Edwards is Tennessee’s only current commit in the 2022 class. However, the Vols are deep in five-stars Cason Wallace and Brandon Miller’s recruitment. The Vols are also heavily pursuing California center Yohan Traore.

Tennessee basketball is in the midst of its best recruiting stretch in program history. Under Barnes the Vols have signed five five-star prospects and three four-star prospects.

The Vols’ last two recruiting classes ranked third and fifth nationally, according to 247sports.
