Tennessee Defensive Line Target Will Announce Commitment Thursday

Jordan Phillips, a 300-pound defensive line target for the Tennessee Volunteers football team, will announce his college destination on Thursday. The announcement will be made at 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 1, according to a post by Phillips on Twitter.

Phillips is a three-star defensive lineman from Ocoee, FL that could bring a good amount of disruption to the Tennessee defense. Especially considering his diverse athletic background in high school. Phillips is a varsity athlete in three sports, which adds wrestling and weightlifting to his football background.

The Florida standout may not boast the best ranking as a three-star, but his offer list is much more indicative of the type of player he could end up being.

Phillips currently holds 27 scholarship offers including Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Tennessee from the SEC.

However, Phillips only took three official visits before he will announce his decision on Thursday. He took three visits in June to Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee in that order.

If Phillips does choose the Vols, it will be only six days after the defensive lineman finished his official visit to Tennessee with Coach Josh Heupel and the Tennessee coaching staff.

As of Wednesday, Phillips had received five Crystal Ball predictions to Tennessee from 247Sports. No other team currently holds a prediction for Phillips based on those projections.

“I WILL BE ANNOUNCING MY COMMITMENT TOMORROW AT 5:00 PM,” Phillips posted to Twitter on Wednesday.
