Tennessee DL Greg Emerson Has Entered The Transfer Portal

The transfer portal is active again in Knoxville. Tennessee defensive lineman Greg Emerson entered his name into the database on Saturday. There had been rumblings over the past few months that the lineman might not be part of the team when fall camp began.

Emerson started nine games for Tennessee during the 2019 season, where he had ten solo tackles and two sacks. He started moving down the ladder in rotation during the 2020 season, where he played in eight games, but had just one tackle.

He was a four star prospect coming out of high school in Jackson, TN, and looked to be on an upward trajectory after arriving on campus. But, after last season, it felt as though his movement up the ladder had ended. Heading into the 2021 season, Emerson was going to be used for depth purposes, so it wouldn’t surprise me if both parties thought this was the right thing to do.

Emerson will have three years of eligibility remaining.

  1. Never ends does it? The world today with all the bull crap that now exist has reached the level of unreality. Will it ever be sane again? Not in my lifetime. But in the interim let the good times for my Vols return and damn the bull shit.
