It was the opening game of the series on Thursday night, as Tennessee traveled to South Carolina. The Vols were looking to start the series on a high note and stay ahead of Vanderbilt in the SEC East.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning, the Vols were setting themselves up nice, thanks to superb pitching from Chad Dallas. It was the 4th inning that put them in control, as Luc Lipcious and Max Ferguson both had 2-run homers, giving the Vols a 7-0 lead.

Tennessee was led by Chad Dallas, who went almost 9 innings, recording 8 strikeouts, while only giving up 4 runs, on 5 hits. Sean Hunley came in to finish off the Gamecocks, as both pitchers benefited from stellar defense.
Tennessee is now 41-13 (19-9) on the season, as they have two games remaining. The Vols still lead Vanderbilt by a half-game, as they look for an SEC East title.
