As the Vols took the field on Saturday at Neyland Stadium, looking to cap off their spring, there was one attendee who could possibly make a real impact in the future.
We all know the story on the Tennessee linebacker group, they’re lacking depth and playmakers. So coming out of the spring, the staff is looking to grab a potential starter from the transfer portal. In the Vols case, they are making a serious push for Texas LB Juwan Mitchell, who is currently in the portal.
On Saturday, Mitchell had the opportunity to experience the Tennessee atmosphere firsthand, as he took in the O&W game. Being that the linebacker position is so thin right now, just getting him on campus should be seen as a positive for fans and the staff.
I spoke briefly with Juwan about his experience at the game and Neyland Stadium.
“The stadium was beautiful, you can tell the fans are loyal and I can’t wait to be back”.
The Vols could greatly benefit getting him back on campus for another visit, so he can get the full experience. Being that he is such a need for the Vols defense, the Tennessee coaching staff is hoping they can make a positive impression on the Texas transfer.
The linebacker is working on getting back to Knoxville, perhaps for a very extended stay.
