The Tennessee football program has seen player turnover since the firing of Jeremy Pruitt, and today there was another. 4-star DT KaTron Evans has been released from his letter of intent by the university. He joins other players like Dylan Brooks and Cody Brown in getting released from their signing by the Vols.
As the winter and spring went on, Evans seemed to be wavering back and forth on whether to enroll at Tennessee. After months of thinking about it, he finally made it official on Wednesday. It takes a few days, sometime weeks, for paperwork to go through and a school to releasee a signee, so this was being worked on for a bit.
Evans wrote on twitter, “I’ve been let out of my NLI from the University of Tennessee my recruitment is 100% open & no interviews. Thank you”.
This is another blow to the Vols at a position they desperately need, especially with the loss of Brooks, who is now heading to Auburn. Evans was the former teammate of Aaron Willis, who is currently suspended from the team. KaTron Evans was the highest-rated DL recruit in Tennessee’s 2021 class.
The Vols will continue evaluating the transfer portal and I would guess there will be some movement after spring practice ends. Tennessee desperately needs to fill some holes on the defensive line and linebacker position, so look for the staff to focus on those areas.
