Four-star Tennessee running back signee Cody Brown has entered the transfer portal, Brown announced Wednesday morning on Twitter.
“Thank you to the Tennessee coaches and staff that recruited me and made me a part of their family,” Brown said in a tweet. “Most of all thank you Vol Nation for the support and love you have given me throughout my commitment. After a lot of thought and consideration, my family and I have decided that it would be best for me to reevaluate my options and put my name into the transfer portal. Please respect my decision.”

Brown signed with the Vols on Dec. 16 during the early signing period. He committed to Jeremy Pruitt’s staff last spring on May 1 during Tennessee’s hot streak on the recruiting trail in which it was ranked in the top five of recruiting rankings.
The Lilburn, Georgia native out of Parkview High School is ranked as the 232 overall player according to the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings. Brown is ranked as the No. 10 overall running back and the 21st-best player in the state of Georgia.
Brown was one of three running backs Tennessee’s signed in the 2021 recruiting class. The Vols signed junior college running back Tiyon Evans and three-star running back Jaylen Wright in addition to Brown. Evans and Wright enrolled early and are currently with the team.
Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class ranked No. 16 overall in the country and sixth in the SEC. The Vols do not currently have anybody committed in the class of 2022.
