Young is ranked as the No. 1 weakside junior college defensive end by 247Sports. He’s considered the No. 11 overall player in junior college football out of Georgia Military College in Hemingway, South Carolina.
He’s originally from Carvers Bay High School in Hemingway. Young was not ranked coming out of high school in 2017 when he made the decision to attend junior college.
While the Early Signing Period for high school seniors ends this Friday, the early junior college signing period runs through Jan. 15. Young was expected to sign on Dec. 23, but he went ahead and signed with the Vols on Wednesday over Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida State.
