Titans vs. Bengals Game Preview
Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals will host the high powered Titans offense on Sunday. The game will feature two strong offenses with clear holes all along their defenses. This has points written all over it as the Titans struggle to gather a pass rush.
The biggest Achilles heal of the Bengals offense is their inability to stop the pass rush. Well they should have an easier time in this one, the Titans tank 29th in the NFL in sacks with just 7. Compare this to Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns who has 9 by himself. The total points for this game stand at a fair 53.5.
The Titans come into this game as 5.5 point favorites. They played a mixed game against the Steelers last week. They fell behind big early on but battled back in the second half. The game should have gone to overtime but once again Stephen Gostowksi let them down. He has been a total liability for them so far.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mike Vrabel begin making calls about replacing his former teammate. Joe Burrow and Ryan Tannehill love to sling the ball all over the field. This one should have a fast pace and be interesting from start to finish.

NFL Week 8 Injury Report
Tennessee Titans
Taylor Lewan is still missed from the Titans offense. He is the leader of their offensive line and will be rehabbing from a torn ACL. Hopefully the offense can continue to push without him out there.
Jonnu Smith was removed from the injury report late last week. However, he looked clearly hobbled in their game against the Steelers constantly limping around the field. He is a crucial part of their offense and will need to continue to get healthy.
Cincinnati Bengals
Carlos Dunlap is not injured but he was traded this week to the Seattle Seahawks. He has been a staple of their defense for years so he will be badly missed.
Joe Mixon was listed as week to week by Zak Taylor. Mixon is one of the best running backs in the league but did it not practice Wednesday. He appears to be truly questionable. Gio Bernard filled in admirably last week.
AFC South Standings After Week 7
- Tennessee Titans 5-1
- Indianapolis Colts 4-2
- Houston Texans 1-6
- Jacksonville Jaguars 1-6
Implied Winning Probability
For bettors who do not calculate implied win probability, you should start immediately. By calculating implied win probability, you are gaining a huge edge from calculating how much of a vig your sportsbook is charging to your true chance of winning a bet. In this game, the Tennessee Titans are -265 to beat the Bengals outright. This calculates to a 72.6% chance to win the game.
On the other side, the Bengals are +225 to beat the Titans outright. This lands them a 30.77% chance to win the game against the Titans. Adding these two numbers together obviously equals over 100%. To be exact, it goes over by a total of 3.36%. This 3.37% is the vig that DraftKings Sportsbook charges their bettors.
Titans vs. Bengals Betting Trends
The Bengals are second in plays per game; Titans are 8th.
When I said in the game preview that this would be a fast paced game, this is what I was referring to. The Bengals run 72.4 plays per game, good for second in the NFL. Only the Cowboys run more plays every game and those numbers are rapidly decreasing since Dak Prescott’s season ending injury. The Titans are also in the top 10 coming in at 8th in plays per game. They average 66.3 plays per game. This one should be high scoring.
Derrick Henry vs. Bengals 28th ranked run defense.
The Bengals just traded one of their best defensive lineman which is always tough to replace. They already badly struggle to stop the run so losing a defensive leader like Carlos Dunlap on the defensive line. Derrick Henry is one of the best running backs in the league and will continue to dominate in this one. Expect huge numbers both in prop bets and during the game.
Titans efficient offense vs. Bengals inefficient offense
The Titans are 8th in yards per play this season. The Bengals on the other hand are 27th in yards per play. This is the tale of an efficient offense vs. an inefficient offense. Burrow is constantly running for his life during games so I would expect Vrabel to draw up blitzes in this one. The Titans rarely have an organic pass rush.
DraftKings Best Bet: Over 52
Titans vs. Bengals Prop Bets
Jonnu Smith to score a touchdown +210
I got a little excited last week taking Jonnu to score twice at +1100. He hasn’t been healthy but has finally logged a full week of full practice sessions. The Cincinnati Bengals are the second worst defense in the league against opposing tight ends.
Gio Bernard over 28.5 receiving yards -112
He had 59 receiving yards last game and the titans defense is just as bad as Cleveland. Joe Mixon is expected to be out for this one. 28.5 is a generously low number if Mixon is out like expected.
Bengals total touchdowns over 2.5 -103
I expect this game to be a shootout and the Bengals have scored 3 or more touchdowns in their last 2 games. AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, and Ter Higgins are as difficult of a receiving corps as anyone’s. The Titans defense is truly terrible on 3rd down and in the red zone. Lots of points in this one will be scored.
All odds are presented by the DraftKings Sportsbook.
