Tennessee is a finalist for five-star linebacker Smael Mondon, he announced on Twitter Wednesday evening. Mondon also announced that he would be committing on Nov. 18.
Mondon announced a final five of Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and the Vols, tweeting ’bout that time’ with a graphic of the schools he’s considering.

The Paulding County High School product out of Dallas, Georgia is considered the No. 27 overall player in the country for the class of 2021 according to the 247Sports composite. Mondon is ranked as the No. 2 outside linebacker in the class and the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defender holds over three dozen scholarship offers. All nine of the crystal ball ball predictions on 247 Sports have Mondon selecting Georgia.
Mondon has visited Tennessee three times in the last year. He took an unofficial visit to Knoxville in late July of last year and came back to see the Vols take on Vanderbilt in the regular season finale. He also visited in late January of this year. Tennessee was the first SEC school to offer Mondon and the second school overall. Virginia Tech offered him first on October 9, 2018. The Vols extended an offer on November 7, 2018.
