Longtime Tennessee target Amarius Mims will announce his collegiate decision on Wednesday afternoon.
The five-star offensive tackle from Bleckley County High School in Cochran, Georgia will choose between Tennessee and Georgia. Mims is announcing at 3:30 p.m. ET at his high school. His announcement will be aired on CBS Sports HQ.
Mims is ranked as the No. 6 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s considered the best player in the state of Georgia and the No. 2 overall offensive tackle in the country for the class of 2021.
All eight crystal ball predictions on 247 Sports are for Mims to end up at Georgia. Mims is coming off of a visit to Athens over the weekend where he saw No. 3 Georgia beat then-ranked No. 14 Tennessee 44-21. Mims was in Knoxville the week prior to watch the Vols beat Missouri.
Tennessee was one of the first SEC schools to extend an offer to Mims, giving him a scholarship offer on January 31, 2019. The Vols made Mims’ list of 10 finalists back on April 1st, joining Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Oklahoma, Oregon, Auburn, Florida, and Florida State at the time. They then made his top 6 in July along with Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida State.
The Vols currently have 25 commitments in their 2021 class, a class that ranks seventh nationally and No. 3 in the SEC. Tennessee currently has commitments from three offensive lineman in three-star tackle William Parker, three-star tackle Colby Smith, and three-star tackle J’Marion Gooch. The Vols are still looking to add an additional offensive lineman, however.
