Tennessee’s Week 5 home game against Alabama will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS, the SEC announced Monday afternoon.
No. 2 Alabama (3-0) is coming off of a 63-48 win over Ole Miss on Saturday. The Crimson Tide beat Missouri 38-19 in their season-opener and then beat Texas A&M 52-24 before heading to Oxford.
The Crimson Tide struggled defensively against Ole Miss, but their offense has showed zero signs of slowing down. Alabama’s offense ranks as the third-best in the entire country through three games. Led by quarterback Mac Jones, the offense is averaging 560.3 yards per game and 51.0 points, which is the most in the country.
No. 18 Tennessee is coming off a 44-21 loss to No. 3 Georgia. The Vols managed to lead 21-17 at halftime courtesy of two Jarrett Guarantano to Josh Palmer touchdowns. But Georgia outscored Tennessee 27-0 in the second half to hand the Vols their first loss of the season.
Alabama won last year’s matchup with Tennessee 35-13. The Vols were on the verge of making it a 28-20 football game with around seven minutes remaining in the game, but Guarantano fumbled at the goal line and Trevon Diggs returned it 100-yards to put the game away.
Tennessee has lost 13 straight games to Alabama. The last win for the Vols over the Crimson Tide came in 2006, a 16-13 victory in Knoxville. Alabama leads the all-time series 57-37-8.
