SEC announces Texas A&M, Auburn as Vols additional opponents

Texas A&M and Auburn will be Tennessee’s two additional opponents for the 10-game conference-only schedule this season, the SEC announced on Friday afternoon. The finalized schedule that includes dates for the games will be released next week.

Tennessee’s schedule now consists of home games against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas A&M. The Vols will travel to Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Auburn.

Texas A&M is coming off of an 8-5 season in which it ended the year with a 24-21 win over Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl. The Aggies went 4-4 in SEC play.

Tennessee and Texas A&M last played in 2016. The Aggies prevailed in College Station 45-38 in double-overtime.

Auburn is coming off a 9-4 season in which it ended with a 31-24 loss to Minnesota in the Outback Bowl. The Tigers went 5-3 in conference play, which ended with a 45-42 Iron Bowl win over Alabama.

Tennessee and Auburn last played in 2018. On the road, Jeremy Pruitt inked the first signature win of his head coaching career with a 30-24 win over then-ranked No. 21 Auburn. Jarrett Guarantano threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns.
