1963 “Halloween” Uniform
- Based on the 1963 Tennessee Football team.
- Because of the orange and black colors, they were called “Halloween Uniforms” by fans.
- New head coach Jim McDonald wanted to make his mark on the Vols football team and added white/black/white stripes to the shoulders and black numbers to the jerseys and on the sides of the helmet, replacing the orange numbers from 1962.
- McDonald was an eccentric coach and wasn’t well liked. He was fired at the end of the season, and these uniforms were replaced the following season.

I’ve always wanted to see a chromed out orange helmet.
I still like the smokey gray, especially close to Halloween.
Matted Orange Helmet w/Black POWER T and white outline.
