The 2019 season was an unprecedented one for the SEC.
The league that built its image on a strong run game and staunch defense held two record-setting quarterbacks in LSU’s Joe Burrow and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
Burrow threw a bunch of touchdowns, won a Heisman Trophy, and led the Tigers to their first national championship in more than a decade, while Tagovailoa had an impressive career cut short due to injury.
Both went in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but will their departure leave that big of a void in the SEC’s collective quarterback room?
It’s obvious that the kind of success Burrow and Tagovailoa had may be hard to replicate for any quarterback in any conference in the coming years, but the league returns a few signal callers, particularly in the SEC East, that may be capable of placing the league among the top of the college football world for the second-straight season and for the 11th time in 18 years.
