Sunday has proven to be another huge recruiting day for Tennessee.
Cody Brown, one of the top running backs in the 2021 class, took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Tennessee on Sunday, giving the Vols their seventh commit in eight days and their second on Sunday.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Brown is the No. 125 overall prospect, the No. 9 running back, and No. 11 recruit in the state of Georgia. The 6-foot, 225-pound back plays for Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. Brown holds offers from Georgia, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Ohio State, Penn State, and others.
Tennessee gave Brown an offer over a year ago, extending an offer to him on April 23, 2019. One of the last places Brown visited before the COVID-19 outbreak temporarily shut down visits was Knoxville, heading to UT’s campus for a Junior Day event on February 1st before the dead period after National Signing Day in February.
Not only is Brown a standout on the football field, but he participates in shot put and discuss as well. He’s also been on the track team for Parkview.
Brown is a big, strong running back, but he’s also quite a bit faster than you’d expect him to be. He’s not going to outrun a ton of speedy SEC defensive backs, but he has a deceptively quick burst, and he moves a lot faster than I expected him to. Brown is extremely hard to tackle, and he rarely goes down on first contact. He breaks tackles with ease, and he has some pretty decent footwork, too. Plus, his team, Parkview, has checkerboard endzones, so he’s already used to running into orange and white checkerboards for touchdowns.
In 12 recorded games as a junior this past season on MaxPreps, Brown racked up 1,676 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on 214 carries, giving him a 7.8 yard per carry average. He also caught 17 passes for 113 yards and threw a 51-yard touchdown. Brown was named the 7-A Player of the Year in 2019 by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. In 33 career games, Brown has amassed 3,694 rushing yards and 53 touchdowns.
Brown’s commitment gives the Vols their seventh commit over the last eight days. Brown joins five-star weak-side Dylan Brooks, five-star outside linebacker Terrence Lewis, four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson, four-star wide receiver Julian Nixon, No. 1 JUCO running back Tiyon Evans, and three-star defensive back De’Shawn Rucker as the latest to commit to UT.
Tennessee now has 17 commits in their 2021 class, and the Vols’ class currently sits atop the SEC in the 247Sports rankings. Brown is the fourth running back to commit to UT this cycle, though three-star Elijah Howard may play defensive back in college. Tiyon Evans and three-star Jaylen Wright are also running backs committed to the Vols currently.
