Cade Mays could’ve just stayed at Georgia for his junior season and declared for the draft after the 2020 season. Instead, he elected to transfer back home to Knoxville and spend at least the 2020 season with his brother Cooper with the Vols.

It remains to be seen if Mays will be immediately eligible for this upcoming season, but if the NCAA passes the rule allowing a one-time transfer for all players, then he definitely will. Even if that doesn’t happen, it seems likely Mays can apply for a waiver and get one.

At Georgia, Mays proved to be a Swiss Army knife for the Bulldogs, playing at every position along the offensive line. His ceiling is likely the highest at guard, but he can play tackle and can fill in at center in a pinch, too.

The 6-foot-6, 328-pound may decide to stick around at Tennessee for his senior season in 2021, but it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see him spend one year in Knoxville and leave for the NFL. As long as he stays injury-free and performs up to expectations, he has the potential to be a sought-after draft prospect.
