Trey Smith, OL
As long as he stays healthy and his blood clots remain at bay, there’s no doubt that Trey Smith has the potential to be a first-round draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Smith shined as a true freshman for the Vols in 2017 and was a Freshman All-American. If not for his unfortunate health issues that flared up prior to his sophomore season, Smith likely would’ve been gone from UT in three years and would’ve been drafted in the first round in this past NFL Draft.
Life had other plans, though, and Smith is now entering his fourth year at Tennessee after being selected as an All-SEC performer as a junior.
At his peak, Smith is arguably the best offensive lineman in the SEC. He’s a road-grading guard in the run game, and he’s highly effective as a pass blocker, too. His aggression and ability to manhandle top end defensive lineman has caught the eye of the college football community and NFL analysts as well.
There are still some areas Smith can improve in as an offensive lineman, but those areas are minimal. Smith has first round potential, and barring any setback between now and next April, he should be the first Vol to hear his name called in the 2021 draft.
