There aren’t usually many kickers taken in the NFL Draft (usually only about two or three per draft), but Brent Cimaglia has a chance to be one of the best kickers in the country in 2020. That could definitely get him drafted.

Cimaglia earned the nickname “Automaglia” for a reason in 2019. He nailed 23 of the 27 field goals he attempted on the season, and he hit a 53-yard field goal against UAB, marking the longest made field goal by a Vol in over two decades. He’s yet to miss a PAT in his UT career, and he’s 3-of-4 on field goals of 50-plus yards and went 9-of-11 on field goal attempts of 40 or more yards in 2019.

Last year, Cimaglia finished second in the SEC in made field goals and field goal percentage (85.2 percent). That helped him earn Second Team All-SEC honors, and he’ll be back for a senior season that will likely put him all over Tennessee’s record books.

This past NFL Draft saw three kickers drafted, and that’s usually the cap for kickers in a draft. If Cimaglia finishes off his UT career with a strong season, he could be one of the few kickers selected in next year’s draft.
