In the 2020 recruiting cycle, Tennessee targeted prospects inside their own state borders in a big way. The Vols aren’t going after quite as many in-state recruits in the 2021 class, but UT is still pursuing several players inside the state. One of those targets included Tennessee in his trimmed-down list of teams on Monday.

Kyndrich Breedlove, a two-way athlete who plays for Pearl-Cohn in Nashville, tweeted out his top five teams on Monday afternoon, and the Vols made the cut along with LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.

On the same day Breedlove announced his top five, he picked up an offer from Georgia. That’s his 10th Power Five offer since the beginning of 2020.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete plays on both offense and defense for Pearl-Cohn, the same high school current Vol defensive tackle Elijah Simmons played for. Breedlove holds offers from about 20 schools, but he’ll be focusing on those five teams moving forward. There’s a good chance Georgia or another team could make some progress with Breedlove, though.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Breedlove is the No. 412 overall prospect, No. 35 athlete, and the 13th-ranked recruit in the state of Tennessee. He’s the top-rated athlete in the state for the 2021 class per 247Sports.

Breedlove has been a frequent visitor to UT’s campus. He picked up an offer from the Vols on June 8, 2019, the same day he attended campus for a camp. He had been to Tennessee before that, and he went back to Knoxville twice in 2020 before the COVID-19 outbreak shut down recruiting visits. Breedlove was on campus for a Junior Day event on February 1st and came back for another visit on March 1st.

Watching Breedlove’s film, it’s evident that he’s a do-it-all athlete. He has very good speed and shiftiness, and he’s a danger with the ball in his hands. On offense, Breedlove has great elusiveness and is hard to get a hand on. Defensively, Breedlove has some good instincts and coverage ability. He’s a versatile player who can play multiple secondary positions.

As a junior, Breedlove racked up 601 rushing yards and 12 scores on 113 carries while adding 15 receptions for 158 yards on offense and totaling 21 tackles, an interception, and two passes defended on defense according to MaxPreps.

Tennessee currently has 10 prospects committed to them in their 2021 class, and two of those recruits are in-state prospects. Three-star wide receiver Walker Merrill and three-star running back Elijah Howard are UT’s in-state commits.
