5-Star Center Has Vols Among Top Teams

Tennessee’s men’s basketball program continues to recruit at an elite level, and the Vols are in the mix for yet another five-star prospect in the 2021 class.

Moussa Cisse, the top-rated basketball recruit in the state of Tennessee in the 2021 cycle, released his top 10 schools late Sunday night, and the Vols were included along with Kentucky, Memphis, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Georgetown, USC, Illinois, and Florida State.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound center moved from New York to Memphis and plays for Lausanne Collegiate School, the same school current Tennessee running back Eric Gray attended. Cisse is rated as the No. 8 overall prospect and No. 1 recruit in Tennessee per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As of now, Cisse hasn’t had a chance to visit Tennessee, but he’s taken visits to see Memphis (twice), Florida State, and Kentucky. His visit to Florida State in late January of this year was an official visit.

Cisse is a dominating defensive presence in the paint, and he’s an expert shot blocker. He moves his feet well and closes a lot of ground really quickly. He eats up rebounds and fights on the offensive and defensive glass with tenacity. His offensive game is developing, and he has several moves in the post to get by defenders.

The five-star big man is just one of a handful of highly-ranked prospects the Vols are involved with in the 2021 class. No. 1 overall power forward Paolo Banchero, five-star power forward Jabari Smith, five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler, five-star forward Harrison Ingram, and five-star center Charles Bediako have all listed the Vols among their top teams or have shown a great deal of interest in Tennessee in the current recruiting cycle.

All in all, Tennessee has offered over a dozen prospects in the 2021 cycle, and over half of them are rated as five-stars by the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Tennessee doesn’t currently have any commits in the 2021 class yet, but the Vols did sign one of the top classes in the country in the 2020 class. The Vols brought in five-stars Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson along with four-star forward Corey Walker in the 2020 class, signing the No. 5 class in the country on 247Sports. Four-star wide receiver signee Malachi Wideman could also play basketball for UT.
