Tennessee welcomed in seven newcomers to their football roster for spring practices in 2020. On Tuesday, UT released their updated spring roster ahead of the start of spring practices, and we now know the jersey numbers and measureables for the newest Vols on the roster.

The jersey numbers for each newcomer are subject to change between now and the start of the 2020 season, but for now, here’s a look at each newcomers’ number and height/weight.

Jimmy Holiday, QB — No. 10, 6-foot, 196 lbs

The incoming early enrollee freshman will start out at quarterback for the Vols this spring, though many believe he could move to wide receiver eventually. Holiday is one of five scholarship quarterbacks on UT’s roster this spring.

Velus Jones Jr., WR – No. 13, 6-foot, 202 lbs

Jones transferred from USC to join the Vols’ wide receiver room, where he’ll be reunited with Tee Martin. Jones was used primarily as a kick returner with the Trojans, and he could definitely take over that role with the Vols as well. He also has an opportunity to carve out some playing time at receiver.

Harrison Bailey, QB — No. 15, 6-foot-5, 223 lbs

The five-star incoming freshman, Bailey comes in weighing slightly more than he was listed on recruiting services at the time he signed with Tennessee, likely pointing to an offseason of strength training. Bailey will be watched closely this spring as he competes with Jarrett Guarantano and others for the starting quarterback job.

Miles Jones, WR — No. 20, 5-foot-8, 172 lbs

Nebraska wide receiver Miles Jones joined the Vols as a transfer this offseason, but it’s believed he’ll be a walk-on for the 2020 season and likely won’t be eligible for the upcoming season. Jones is a speedy wideout who has a similar height/weight profile of former Vol receiver Alton “Pig” Howard.

Dominic Bailey, DL — No. 59, 6-foot-3, 303 lbs

Bailey comes in about 10 pounds heavier than he was listed on recruiting sites, which is good news for him. He looks to have the appropriate mass to compete early on, though he’ll have plenty of veteran linemen ahead of him. Enrolling early should help Bailey get a head start on other incoming linemen, though.

Cooper Mays, OL — No. 63, 6-foot-3, 290 lbs

One of the biggest questions about Cooper Mays during his recruitment was his weight. Was he going to be big enough to play in the SEC? His official measurements on UT’s roster put those questions to rest, as he comes in just 10 pounds shy of 300 pounds. The freshman isn’t expected to make huge contributions in his first year on campus, but he has the potential to be a starting center or guard in the future.

Cade Mays, OL — No. 68, 6-foot-6, 328 lbs

The Georgia transfer who was once committed to the Vols, Cade Mays returns home this spring. It’s still unknown if he’ll be eligible for the 2020 season yet, but he has the perfect frame and size to help UT right away. He was a multi-year starter for the Bulldogs and is a former five-star who played for Knoxville Catholic.

Other roster notes:

Redshirt senior Jordan Allen has moved from outside linebacker to tight end to start spring practices. Allen suffered a season-ending injury last year before the start of the 2019 season, and now he’ll be looking to provide some more depth at the Vols’ TE spot. Allen will be wearing No. 86 and measures in at 6-foot-4, 241 pounds.

Quarterback Kasim Hill, who joined the Vols last offseason as a walk-on transfer from Maryland, is now wearing No. 11. He wore No. 20 last season.

Aaron Beasley is officially listed as a linebacker on the Vols’ updated roster. Beasley came in as a defensive back in UT’s 2019 class, but he practiced for most of the fall at inside linebacker last year as the Vols’ unit got hit with a lot of attrition. He’s officially moved to linebacker for the spring now.
