Offensive Line
LT: Jahmir Johnson or K’Rojhn Calbert, Cade Mays
LG: Trey Smith, Riley Locklear, Jahmir Johnson
C: Brandon Kennedy, Jerome Carvin, Cooper Mays
RG: Cade Mays or Jerome Carvin, Chris Akporoghene
RT: Darnell Wright or K’Rojhn Calbert, Jahmir Johnson
Out: Wanya Morris
With Wanya Morris out for the spring, that frees up the left tackle spot for Jahmir Johnson to try and make some noise. He’ll have some competition, likely from K’Rojhn Calbert or even transfer lineman Cade Mays. Both of those players could likely start at other positions, but they’ll probably get reps a left tackle, too. Don’t discount the possibility of Trey Smith seeing some action at left tackle, either.
Brandon Kennedy and Trey Smith likely have two of the five starting spots nailed down along the OL for the Vols, and Cade Mays has the ability to come in and instantly win a starting job. Jerome Carvin will compete at both guard and center, and Riley Locklear will compete at guard along with Chris Akporoghene. Don’t count out Jahmir Johnson seeing some time at guard, too.
At right tackle, Darnell Wright and K’Rojhn Calbert will battle it out this spring to see if one can get the upper hand on the other heading into the summer and fall. Wright started the majority of last season at that spot, but Calbert entered the equation after Wright got banged up and played inconsistently.
